Audi metroproject quattro 2007

(from Audi Press Release) At the Tokyo Motor Show (24.10. - 11.11.2007) Audi is unveiling the metroproject quattro, an original, characteristically Audi design study for the sub-compact segment. The three-door four-seater car blends dynamic styling with exemplary economy of space and supreme quality in trailblazing fashion. At the same time, a series of visionary technical solutions take efficiency, dynamism and motoring pleasure into new territory as only Audi knows how.

The drive unit for the metroproject quattro showcases a fully independent, innovative hybrid technology. At work under the bonnet is a 1.4.litre TFSI engine developing 110 kW (150 bhp), whose power is directed to the front wheels by means of the S-tronic Direct Shift Gearbox. A 30 kW (41 bhp) electric motor positioned on the rear axle is able to deliver up to an additional 200 Nm of torque when the vehicle is accelerating. When boosting, in other words driving the vehicle simultaneously by TFSI and electric motor to achieve a dynamic driving style, the study is transformed from a front-wheel-drive car to a quattro, and power is transferred to the road in the most effective way possible.

Audi Cross Coupe Quattro Study 2007

(from Audi Press Release) The compact performance SUV Audi Cross Coupé quattro

At the Shanghai Motor Show (20 - 28 April 2007) Audi will present a study that defines a new segment in the field of crossover vehicles. The Audi Cross Coupé quattro combines the design and dynamism of a compact premium sports car with the spaciousness and versatility of a four-seat sport utility vehicle (SUV). Innovative technical solutions show new ways of achieving efficiency, driving pleasure and comfort in a manner that is typical of Audi. The Audi Cross Coupé quattro: a car whose visual appearance clearly tells you what it is capable of and whose engineering matches this standard – on all roads, under all conditions.

Audi S4 2005

(from Audi Press Release) Driving pleasure, superior technology, exciting styling and a level of luxury that even satisfies the demands made in the top car class: Audi is presenting the new generation of its best-selling models – the A4, A4 Avant and the high-performance S4.

This is a new model generation that is obvious at first glance. The front-end styling of both saloon and Avant models is new, with the addition of the characteristic Audi single-frame grille. The rear end, with its emphatically horizontal lines, and the sides, where the shoulder line moulds the panels distinctly into shape, are also new.

The models’ technology lives up to the promise made by their new exterior styling: A4 customers can choose from no fewer than ten powerful engines, including four completely new units developing an output of up to 255 bhp. The V8 in the S4 delivers 344 bhp.

FSI and turbo technology represent the most advanced state of the art for petrol engines, as do the revolutionary piezo injectors in the three-litre TDI. The sporty yet comfortable dynamic chassis converts the power delivered by these units into sheer driving pleasure – on every bend, on every mile of the journey.

Audi A8L 6.0 Quattro 2004

(from Audi Press Release) Audi proudly presents its new flagship model: the 12-cylinder A8. The brand with the four-ring badge yet again defines the benchmark for dynamic performance in the absolute top automotive bracket. Because the launching of the A8 L 6.0 quattro marks the appearance of a vehicle full of superlatives – the sportiest luxury saloon car in the world. Twelve cylinders, 331 kW (450 bhp) and 580 Newton-metres of torque – a gain of 30 bhp and 20 Nm on the predecessor model – make this a supremely excellent car.

The A8 6.0 L quattro sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds, and it accelerates from 0 to 200 in a mere 17.4 seconds. The twelve-cylinder model reaches its electronically governed top speed of 250 km/h after scarcely 30 seconds. The most impressive thing about it is just how spontaneously the six-litre engine translates every adjustment of the throttle into acceleration, and just how smoothly it can rev right up to the rated speed of 6,200 rpm if desired.

Audi RS6 Avant Plus 2004

(from Audi Press Release) quattro GmbH is now launching an ultimate sports version of the RS 6 developing 353 kW (480 bhp). The RS 6 plus is equipped with features echoing the world of motor sport and comes with new colour concepts.

With an output of 480 bhp, the RS 6 plus generates 30 bhp more than the standard Audi RS 6 version. The peak torque of 560 Nm is achieved across a range that now extends from 1950 rpm all the way up to 6000 rpm – in other words, the engine speed range across which this enormous traction is now available has been increased by a further 400 rpm.

The secret to this optimised performance is a new engine control unit. In order to maintain stable thermal conditions in the light of its uprated performance, the technical specialists from quattro GmbH have positioned two additional radiators behind the intercoolers.
